Columbiana Movie Maker married to a Black Woman

September 1, 2011-- Since the new movie release, "Columbiana" starring Zoe Saldana is getting some big buzz, I just thought I'd re-feature the film's writer-producer Luc Besson and wife, Virginie Silla-Here they are at a Paris premiere in February 2011.

I've posted pics of them and their kids before, here on the Ezine. I would speculate that the fact that his wife is a black woman (of Sengalese descent), made him much more likely to lift up a black woman (Zoe Saldana) and put her on the world stage, confirming her as a major star.

It's key that he featured Zoe in "Columbiana"as a desirable woman--not a social work case. Trust me. A wife has great influence on a husband's decisions, directly and indirectly, that is, when the husband is an intelligent man. LOL!

****This is another critically important reason why bw must be careful about 'the company they keep,' especially when it comes to men. I sincerely wish that black women would strive with all their might to position themselves to be better able to strategically choose the men with whom they mingle.

Bw have been naturally given the "right" equipment. Most men would agree that as a group, black women, in all of our varieties, have the most beautiful bodies and skin. Sadly, so many bw do NOT engage in self-care and take care of their "equipment." However, some bw  who are sleek and stylish still throw their best cards away when they mingle with loser-men. This tells me they don't know how to play their hand to win, so they get wiped out emotionally before the game starts. SMH I wish I had access to the setup I'd need to teach bw to win. LOL! It can be taught, but I can't do it with a blog. 

 Remember that in the patriarchal world in which all women live, the position of ANY woman is in direct relation to the position of the man/men who are her consorts/husbands, and/or those men she's grouped with. IF any woman mingles mostly with men who have higher social status (due to the man's education, money, clout, know-how, talent, accomplishments, etc.), she, too, will have higher social status.

 Quick! Somebody please hire a skywriter to write that in the sky for SOME bw (particularly AA women). LOL! I'll name this the "Hypergamy Strut."

Some women begin learning this 'H-Strut' as soon as they're out of the womb. Whereas most women in the world are expected and many are slowly and surely taught to do the  'H-Strut' to climb the mating ladder (hypergamy) to find a well-positioned man at her level or higher, a typical AA "BLACK" woman is expected to only climb the mating ladder IF she can pull alla her people with her. No wonder so many AA women never even set foot on the ladder. How many white and Asian women would even get to the ladder--let alone climb it--if they had to or were even expected or pressured to pull alla their people with them??????

Chris Yandek, did another one of his probing interviews of Hollywood's biggies with actress, Zoe Saldana HERE. She is starring in a new release,"Columbiana," and I hear she's engaged to a white guy.

While there, check out some of his other interviews at CY INTERVIEW He usually delves into bw stars' views about IR dating and mates, so he thought my readership would be interested in Zoe Saldana starring opposite a white male, as his love interest in this new  movie.

CY and I chat sometimes. I pointed out before to him that to SOME black people in the U.S., Hispanic women like Zoe and J-Lo are NOT considered "black," so MOST AAs, for sure, will not see her relationship with a wm as a bw-wm relationship even though whites generally see Zoe that way. I mention that here because I don't want anyone to write me to tell me that Zoe is not black. LOL! She is from the Dominican Republic. The fact is that according to the 1-drop rule, Zoe is as black as many AAs are. Some whites therefore wonder why AAs would not see Zoe as a black woman whose first language is Spanish. I also get tired of explaining things like that to whites. Race labels are a part of an ambiguous construct. Race is only construct-real--not really real--so a discussion  as to whether Zoe is "black" or not is really an exercise in futility. I don't plan to go there, so do NOT write me about that.
